Cybook Odyssey Update: we want YOU to be a beta-tester!

UPDATE DEC. 17 2014: THE UPDATE IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR ALL CYBOOK ODYSSEY USERS!
All the details are here: Cybook Odyssey update now available!

You hoped for it, you asked for it, and we listened to you. We’re very happy to announce today that we’ll shortly be launching an update to the Cybook Odyssey, including the new interface and new features developed for the Cybook Ocean.

As it’s a major update, before making it publicly available, we’d like to have a short beta-test with a small group of experienced users.

So, Cybook Odyssey users, if you would like to be the first to discover all the new features our dev team has been working so hard on, hurry and sign up!

How can I participate?

Visit our online support and sign in to your Bookeen account.
Then “Submit a ticket” and request the Beta-test.
Don’t forget to fill in your name and the serial number of your Cybook Odyssey!
You’ll find the serial number on the back of your Cybook Odyssey, or in the “About” menu available from the home page of your Odyssey.
We’ll make the update available to you privately in the coming days, as soon as we’ve assembled our group of beta-testers!

Happy reading, and happy beta-testing!

  1. Hi there!

It would be great to get a firmware update for the Odyssey Frontlight soon. What I would really like to have in this update:
    * beside the possibility to switch the function of the two buttons (left and right) it would be a great improvement to have the possibility to use both buttons for moving forward in the book. I would prefer that instead of using the touchscreen when I hold my Odyssey in my left hand.
    * it would be great to get an easier access to “Delete” a book. At the moment it is really uncomfortable to navigate to this function.
    * it looks nice to have the book cover previews in the library view – but sometimes it would be better to have a pure list of books, simply something like author and title, sorted by author or by title. That would make it possible to display much more books on one page.
Is there a chance to get these wishes into the new version or am I too late with them? 🙂
    Thank you very much!

    best regards!
    Frank

    1. Hello Frank,
thanks for your feedback! We’re sorry you missed out on the beta-test of the new firmware, but the good news is that some of the features you listed in your comment have already been implemented. For instance it’s now possible to delete a book from your Cybook simply by pressing and holding a finger on the book in your library, until a dialog box opens with options: mark as read / mark as new; add to collections; use as screensaver; or… delete. 🙂 The list of books in the library view has also been redesigned so more books are visible per page (the cover images are still displayed, but smaller). Many other improvements and optimisations have been added and our team is still treating the feedback from our beta-test from everyone who participated. For info, please feel free to send your feedback directly to our team via the contact form on our site: http://www.bookeen.com/en/contactUs
