Bookeen triumphs in Northern Europe with Adlibris Letto

Paris, 28th September 2012
Press release Bookeen e-Reader / Bookeen provides Adlibris’ fifth best seller: The Swedish market of digital reading skyrocketing!
Adlibris Letto

Launched in June 2012, the ereader ‘Letto’ available from the first Scandinavian bookseller Adlibris confirms its success while also becoming the central figure of a massive marketing investment during the 4 days of the largest Scandinavian bookfair in Gothenburg. This investment has resulted in a prime time campaign on the leading swedish TV channel. The Swedish eReader which is “made in France” will be also placed at the disposal of thousands of travellers in trains across Sweden and will be demonstrated at various universities in Sweden, until the end of the duration of the fair. The ereader, which is produced in partnership with French company Bookeen, is currently Adlibris’ 5th best seller.

With 15 million books sold per annum, Adlibris is the number one Scandinavian bookseller. The ereader Letto, made in partnership with Bookeen, is currently the Adlibris’ fifth best seller right behind “Fifty Shades of Grey”. Gothenburg, the most important book fair in Scandinavia, is held on Thursday 27th September until Sunday 30th September and celebrates digital reading.

Julia Reuszner, Head of Digital at Adlibris:
“By having been recognized by the Swedish media to such an extent, Letto by Adlibris and the French manufacturer Bookeen is regarded as the first Swedish contender in front of Amazon and its Kindle. With Bookeen, Adlibris made a success of its bet: digital reading attracts consumers at the highest level”.

We can only congratulate ourselves based on the successes of Adlibris and the global solution developed for our partners. The historical booksellers are the natural market leaders of digital books and the success of this partnership demonstrates this. Like the USA, Sweden and Northern Europe are undergoing the e-reading revolution ».

This partnership follows on from other high profile partnerships with Bookeen which provides its solution to booksellers such as Thalia (300 Bookstores in Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Virgin Megastore, Cultura and Decitre in France and Feltrinelli in Italy. By these various collaborations, Bookeen not only currently positions itself as the competitor of Amazon and Kobo in the whole of Europe but confirms its position as a leader in the Nordic countries where the industry has a double digits growth.
